Another likeness study I have worked on in the last few months. The subject here is one of my favourite singers Devin Townsend, well known in the metal field with his solo projects as well as the singer of Strapping Young Lad, Steve Vai and others.
The process to model his likeness has been the same I used for the previous portrait. I sculpted the head from scratch, then I wrapped my personal head mesh on it and kept sculpting until I reached a decent likeness stage. Also skin details have been done from scratch using a combination of personal and default alphas.
Clothing has been created completely in Marvelous Designer with additional sculpting in Zbrush.
My final goal is always to improve my skills to replicate primary and secondary shapes based on pure observation.
It's always a great exercise to dive deep into face details as well as developing the overall look of the project. Indeed the image has to trick the eyes and makes you believe what you're observing is close to realism, even though there's no texturing, lookDev and proper lighting involved, but purely shapes.
I hope you like it!
